over 1,100 participants
The foreign guests – photographers Mark Power from Britain, Alex Webb from USA, and Georgii Pinkhasov, the only Russian representative of the agency presently living in France – shared their expertise with the audience. Also, the visitors could ask their questions to Nina Gomiashvili, the curator of the exhibition.
“Our main task is to demonstrate the uniqueness of Moscow from completely different points of view and with the help of completely different techniques. I’m more interested in light, while Alex – in color, and Mark – in shapes and silence,” noted Georgii Pinkhasov.
Mark Power, Alex Webb, and Georgii Pinkhasov shared their professional knowledge and experience with visitors. The participants discussed the role of the street photography in perception of the city, tools and practices used by photographers for taking pictures, learned the way how popular spots in Moscow were changing at night and which of them were awaking to life only after the sunset.
The main topic of the discussion was immersion into the atmosphere of Moscow. The photographers showed to the audience unusual pictures taken by them during the first week of exhibition performance.
This open discussion was the part of the summer program of Magnum Live Lab/19.
Magnum Live Lab/19 summer experimental laboratory starts working in July. Currently, the participants of the project are taking pictures of Moscow. On July 16 the best works will enrich the exhibition of the winter project which is functioning in the Shchusev State Museum of Architecture since the beginning of the month.
