In total, according to the study, the Russian capital was mentioned more than 800 thousand times on Instagram, OK.ru, vk.com and Twitter from the 1st to the 8th of January. More than 500 thousand Instagram posts featuring the New Year's illumination of Moscow have been published by the citizens and tourists.

Tverskaya Street, which was pedestrian until the 6th of January, saw the largest number of geotags. This year, the central venue of Journey to Christmas festival was decorated in space-themed style. As Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin previously said, about 6 million Moscow citizens and tourists have visited the central venue of the Journey to Christmas festival on Tverskaya Street.

Muscovites and guests of the capital had an opportunity to learn about different periods of the development of cosmonautics, take pictures inside a spacecraft with the dogs Belka and Strelka and go through the 15-metre-long Kosmos tunnels located on Tverskaya, Mokhovaya and Okhotny Ryad, and much more. In addition, 21 hundred workshops were held on the main venue of the festival on Tverskaya Street, which includes classes in the Robotics Workshop and the New Year's Decorations Workshop, which were attended by both tourists and citizens.

In total, the citizens and guests of the capital made 460 thousand geotags in Moscow during the holidays.

Additionally:

This year's Journey to Christmas festival is held from the 13th of December to the 12th of January at more than 80 sites in different parts of Moscow, including parks, theatres, libraries and cultural centres. Here, both Muscovites and guests of the capital will be able to find entertainment to their liking: various workshops, sports lessons, theatric plays based on fairy tales.

For the convenience of the capital's visitors, a Tourist Information Centre was opened on Manezhnaya Square at one of the festival's pavilions. The centre is open daily: from 11 a. m. to 9 p. m. on weekdays and from 10 a. m. to 10 p. m. on weekends and holidays. The centre's specialists will answer tourists their question, as well as tell about the venues of the Journey to Christmas festival.

For additional questions, citizens and guests of the capital can call the hotline of the Moscow Tourist Contact Centre. Guests of the city can contact the operators at the Moscow Tourist Contact Centre for the schedule of public transportation, clarify the working hours of museums and ice rinks, or ask how to get to a particular destination.
