Today sees the start of World Travel Awards 2020. Moscow has been put forward in three nominations: Europe’s Leading City Destination, Europe’s Leading Festival & Event Destination and Europe’s Leading Heritage Destination.

Last year, for the first time, Moscow won the World Travel Award for the World’s Leading City Destination, beating London, Lisbon, Paris, and New York. Tourism is gradually becoming one of the leading industries of the capital. With each award, more people across the world are considering Moscow as a great holiday destination. You can vote for Moscow on the official website: worldtravelawards.com/vote.

Moscow was nominated for the following awards:  Europe’s Leading City Destination, Europe’s Leading Festival & Event Destination, Europe’s Leading Heritage Destination, and the Moscow Committee for Tourism has been nominated as Europe’s Leading City Tourist Board. 

Voting will continue until 10 May. To participate, you need to register on the official website.

On 20 June, the World Travel Awards 2020 ceremony will take place in Antalya (Turkey). 

The Grand Final will be held in Moscow for the first time.

In 2019, Moscow was declared the winner of the World Travel Award as the World’s Leading City Destination for the first time. This category included such cities as London, New York, Lisbon, Paris, Saint Petersburg, Sydney, and Rio de Janeiro.

Moscow has been nominated for three awards: World’s Leading Festival & Event Destination, World’s Leading Sports Tourism Destination and World’s Leading City Destination. Moscow was also up for two additional awards: World’s Leading Business Travel Destination and World’s Leading Cultural City Destination.

On 28 November 2019, the World Travel Awards ceremony took place in Muscat (Oman).

The World Travel Awards were founded in 1993. It is considered one of the most prestigious awards in tourism. The award is also called the Oscars of the travel industry.
